What is DegreeWorks? DegreeWorks is a program that allows students to view their academic progress toward degree completion. DegreeWorks allows students and academic advisors to track current progress and plan future academic coursework. What is an Audit? An audit is a checklist of degree requirements. It uses a best-fit algorithm to place courses you've received credit for. Note: Some transfer courses might not automatically apply. Please speak with your academic advisor to see how your transfer courses could fit into your audit. How can I access DegreeWorks? Students and Academic Advisors can access DegreeWorks through myUAH. The link is located under Student Services > Student Records > DegreeWorks. You can view from any browser on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. We recommend a computer or large tablet for optimal viewing. Our preferred browser is Google Chrome. Who has the ability to access DegreeWorks? Students (both Undergraduate & Graduate) have the ability to view their personal DegreeWorks audit. All Academic Advisors have access for the purpose of advising and supporting a student's academic progress toward degree. How up-to-date is my information in DegreeWorks? The information is refreshed each time you run a new audit. Any changes made to a student's record (schedule changes, major changes, etc) will appear on the next run audit. Does DegreeWorks replace Schedule Planner? No. DegreeWorks is only a tool that shows your current and planned academic history. Registration for classes will still continue through myUAH. Which students can use DegreeWorks? DegreeWorks is available to all degree-seeking students who have a catalog year of Fall 2017 or newer. Students with a catalog year prior to Fall 2017 are welcome to use the What-If functionality of DegreeWorks to explore various degree program options. You are also welcome to use the GPA calculators. If you would like to switch to a catalog term of Fall 2017 or newer, please contact your Academic Advisor. Can I register for classes in DegreeWorks? No. DegreeWorks is a snapshot of courses in-progress, planned, and in academic history. Can I see how many classes I have left to fulfill my degree requirements? Yes. DegreeWorks is laid out in block format displaying degree, major, minor, and concentration requirements information. Look for unchecked boxes to identify requirements that you still need to complete. Are my grades visible in DegreeWorks? Yes. Once grades have been processed at the end of the semester, they are viewable in DegreeWorks; however, though grades are viewable in myUAH once posted by an instructor, final grades are not available in DegreeWorks until after the final grading period for the University has ended. Courses in-progress are listed with an “IP” grade. Midterm grades will display for any 100 or 200-level course that is in-progress. Can I see a list of all the classes I've taken? Yes. On the Worksheet tab, click on the Class History link at the top for a printable list of courses taken at UAH as well as any applicable transfer courses. What do I do if I believe my academic information is incorrect? You should consult your academic advisor for a review of your audit. Any exception to major, minor, or concentration requirements should be discussed with your major/minor advisor or academic department personnel. Why isn't my information up-to-date? There could be several reasons. One is that Degree Works may not have refreshed since a change was made. Click on Process New to regenerate audit. Second, there could be some paperwork that needs to be completed. For example, if you have completed transfer courses, it is possible that the university has not received an official transcript or the coursework is pending departmental review. Check with the Registrar’s Office if your transcript or audit does not reflect transfer work you have completed. How can I update information in DegreeWorks? You cannot update course information in Degree Works. If you need to update your major/minor/concentration, meet with your academic advisor. What is the "What If"? The “What If” function allows you to hypothetically change your major, minor, or concentration. The What If audit will show you what coursework is required for the new major, minor, or concentration, what courses you have taken that satisfy requirements, and what courses are still left for you to take. Degree Works also will allow you to select more than one major at a time, or to select multiple major(s), minor(s) and concentration(s). What is the GPA Calculator? There are three different GPA calculators in Degree Works. The Graduation Calculator and Advice Calculator help you determine how to reach a desired GPA. The Term Calculator will show you your estimated cumulative GPA after you fill in hypothetical grade information. By putting in your current earned units and GPA and placing your in-progress courses in the table (this all will default in for you) along with the grade you anticipate receiving for each course; you will see a revised cumulative GPA based on the estimates you provided.
