Purpose
ý (“UAH” or “University”) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The increased presence of electric hoverboards, bicycles, scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, and other similar electric wheeled devices, (collectively “electric mobility devices” or “devices”) on campus has the potential to pose a fire hazard and other problematic safety concerns. This policy establishes requirements for the safe operation and storage of these devices.
Policy

This policy applies to all UAH students, staff, faculty, and visitors operating electric mobility devices on property owned, leased, or controlled by UAH.

Parking, riding, or storing electric mobility devices in an unauthorized area, including, but not limited to, stairwell, hallways, rooms, lounges, balconies, trees, plants, public seating fixtures, signposts, or electrical infrastructure, is prohibited. These devices are prohibited from being used inside all University buildings. This includes residence halls and apartments, academic buildings, university owned homes, leased facilities, within a fraternity or sorority residence, and other campus properties controlled by the University. These devices are also restricted from being stored and/or having their batteries charged inside the aforementioned facilities. The charging of these devices creates the possibility of starting a fire from overcharging.

Individuals who use an electric mobility device on the grounds, streets, and sidewalks of UAH, must familiarize themselves and comply with state and campus motor vehicle regulations.

Review
The Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible for the review of this policy every five (5) years (or whenever circumstances require).
