Number 02.01.58 Division Academic Affairs Date October 28, 2016 Purpose To modify the second bachelor's degree policy such that students who have received a first degree from a regionally accredited university will be considered to have completed all Charger Foundations requirements. The policy would increase the likelihood of a student coming to ßÙÁ¨´«Ã½ to pursue a second bachelor's degree by reducing the amount of time to second degree completion and simplifying the process. Policy A student holding a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution may earn a second bachelor's degree from UAH by fulfilling a specific set of requirements at both the college and University level. By virtue of the successfully completed first bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, UAH presumes that all Charger Foundations requirements are completed, but students must satisfy all other applicable requirements for each degree. The first degree must have been based on completion of at least 120 hours. Procedures A student pursuing a second bachelor's degree must: Meet all prerequisites for courses taken as part of the second degree; Earn at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in UAH coursework; Complete a minimum of 30 hours or 25% of the total degree requirements at UAH for the second degree; and Complete majors and/or minors appropriate to the degrees (a major for one degree may count as a minor for the other degree). Graduation with honors recognition for the second bachelor's degree requires a minimum of 60 semester hours of coursework taken at UAH above the requirements for the first bachelor's degree. Honors will be determined by the grade-point average for the last 60 semester hours of coursework taken at UAH above the requirements for the first bachelor's degree or all coursework taken at UAH above the coursework for the first baccalaureate degree, whichever is higher. Honors calculation for the second bachelor’s degree follows the same procedures as graduation honors for the first baccalaureate degree. Review Academic Affairs will review the policy every five years or sooner as needed. Second Bachelors Degree Policy
