UAH College of Nursing to Host Health Equity Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 14

The College of Nursing at ý (UAH) will host the Health Equity Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the UAH campus. UAH is part of The University of Alabama system.

Part of the UAH College of Nursing Golden Anniversary series, the event will bring together health professionals, governmental officials, non-profit leaders and other stakeholders to share best practices and innovative approaches to community health challenges. Topics include developing impactful solutions for individuals with cognitive health challenges; addressing health issues faced by first responders, veterans and other service professionals; and promoting cancer prevention, survivorship, and supportive care.

Key highlights of the symposium include:

  • Expert Panels: Leaders in the community and non-profit organizations will share insights on addressing the unique health issues faced in our community.
  • Interactive Sessions: Participants will engage in dynamic discussions tackling some of the most urgent and important health care needs in our community.
  • Networking Opportunities: Attendees can connect with like-minded professionals and organizations committed to fostering health and wellness in our communities.

Speakers include Kenny Anderson, Maximum Life Enhancement; Daniel Kasambira, United Way of Madison County; Dr. Jennifer Bail, associate professor, College of Nursing at UAH, and Sarita Edwards, E.WE Foundation.

“By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, we aim to develop impactful solutions that address pressing health challenges in our communities,” said Dr. Karen Frith, Dean of the College of Nursing at UAH. “This conference is an opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and inspire action towards better health for individuals facing significant challenges.”
