Guten Tag!

Hola!

Hola!

Здравствуйте!

Здравствуйте!

Students majoring in Foreign Language or in Foreign Language and International Trade (FLIT) can choose from four areas of concentration: French, German, Russian, or Spanish. Students may also minor in one of these four areas regardless of major.

French

The French minor requires 24 semester hours of study which are focused on developing all four essential language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

For complete degree requirements including Charger Foundations courses, consult the World Languages and Cultures section of the UAH catalog. Students with some prior knowledge of French can test out of lower courses and be placed into higher courses. For the courses they test out of, French minors can receive up to 6 credit hours without no grades or quality points towards completion of the major or minor.

Note: The French major and the French track of the Foreign Language and International Trade major are currently inactive and not accepting new students. If you are interested in French or FLIT French, we encourage you to explore combining a French minor with another field of interest, such as a  major in the College of Business.  More Info

Foreign Languages and International Trade

FLIT is an interdisciplinary program that combines major coursework in German, Russian, or Spanish with coursework related to international trade. The FLIT program requires 66 semester hours of study, and in addition to language, coursework includes macroeconomics, accounting, statistics, finance, marketing, management, and international relations.

The program is designed to prepare students for a wide range of professional careers in governmental and corporate organizations. FLIT students are encouraged to study or intern abroad, and like regular language majors, they are required to complete an internship in their focus language, either domestically or internationally. No minor is required for this program, although many students choose to add either a global studies minor or an international business minor.

FLIT students with some prior knowledge of their focus language can test out of lower courses and be placed into higher courses. For the courses they test out of, they can receive up to 6 credit hours, but no grades or quality points, towards completion of the major.

There is not a French FLIT option at this time, but students interested in FLIT French are encouraged to combine a French minor with a major from the College of Business.
